Impeded eruption of incisor teeth can be diagnosed from 5-7 years of age and treatment is best started as soon as the problem is noticed. The cause of impeded incisors is usually an obstruction such as an extra tooth (supernumerary tooth) or occasionally if there has been an injury to the primary teeth.
Treatment involves (surgical) removal of any obstruction and exposure of the incisor. The tooth buried tooth is then aligned using partial braces. The early age at which this is usually done does not allow a definitive treatment because the remaining permanent teeth are not yet present i.e. the results are only interim results
